The Yoruba World Congress is in a festive and reflective mood as the umbrella body of Yoruba groups and people across the globe celebrates Elder statesman, Journalism Legend and Action Governor the nonagenarian, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.

In statement signed by the YWC Secretary General Prof Anthony Kila, the Yoruba apex body noted that Pa Lateef Kayode Jakande is an icon that merits a weeklong and even more celebration on his Birthday.
According to the statement “The Yoruba World Congress believes we should celebrate Pa Jakande each day of his life and not just on his birth date for his humongous contributions to Lagos and humanity at large.”
As founder of NUJ and the face of Africa in IPI in Journalism, as an astute politician in politics and as a juggernaut in developmental Governance as action laden Executive Governor of Lagos Lateef Jakande created landmarks that can only be emulated.

Worthy comment for a great human being, a cultured omo Oduduwa
We appreciate you all
I support fully the celebrations of Alhaji Kayode Jakande. He is as good as gold and diamond combined. He made a tremendous achievements in Lagos State when he was governor.I suggest we change Agege Motor Rd Mushin to Lateef Jakande Road to immortalise this iconic omo Oduduwa.
I also agree completely with the message of Prof Banji Akintoye on the security of Yoruba Land and the heartening emergence of Amotekun Security Organisations. Kudos to our governors for achieving this feat in spite of political differences. We can do it by His grace, love, selflessness and co operation.
More grace to you all
